FAISALABAD: China reaffirmed its support for the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and pledged to strengthen cooperation in education, research, and cultural exchange, during a visit by His Excellency Zhao Shiren, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, to the university’s Confucius Institute on Tuesday.
During the visit, Zhao toured the UAF exhibition center and met with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, commending the university’s advanced facilities and achievements in agricultural education and research. He praised UAF’s role in advancing Pakistan’s food security and agricultural development and discussed avenues to enhance academic and research collaborations.
At the Confucius Institute, Zhao held discussions with Local Dean Dr. Saddam Hussain on expanding student and faculty exchange programs, promoting Chinese language and cultural initiatives, and facilitating the transfer of advanced Chinese agricultural technologies.
Officials said the collaboration is expected to benefit Pakistan’s agricultural sector and economic growth, in line with broader strategic frameworks under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative.
The visit is seen as a step toward deepening the long-standing Pakistan-China partnership in science, education, and culture, with joint research initiatives and enriched academic programs expected in the near future.
