China, Pakistan Pledge Deeper Strategic Cooperation at 7th Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue

CT Report

BEIJING: China and Pakistan have vowed to further strengthen their “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” following the 7th Round of the China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue held in Beijing on January 4, 2026. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar discussed political, security, economic and regional cooperation, reaffirming strong mutual support on each other’s core interests — including Pakistan’s endorsement of the one-China policy and China’s backing for Pakistan’s sovereignty and anti-terrorism efforts.

Both sides agreed to upgrade the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, deepen cooperation in industry, agriculture, mining and infrastructure, and expand collaboration in finance, technology and education. They also launched activities marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2026.

The two countries expressed alignment on key international issues, calling for peace in Afghanistan, a ceasefire in Gaza, respect for the UN Charter, and greater support for developing nations. Pakistan thanked China for economic assistance, while China commended Pakistan’s counter-terrorism measures. The next round of talks will be held in Islamabad in 2027.
