ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation Saturday with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi amid heightened regional tensions following reported Indian aggression.

Dar briefed Wang on the “evolving regional situation” and Pakistan’s “carefully calibrated response” to last night’s developments, according to a statement from the Foreign Office.

Wang commended Pakistan’s “restraint and responsible approach” under challenging circumstances. He reaffirmed Beijing’s continued support for Islamabad, calling China an “ironclad friend” and Pakistan’s “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partner.”

“China will continue to stand firmly by Pakistan in upholding its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national independence,” Wang said.

The two leaders underscored the importance of maintaining close communication and agreed to continue coordination in the coming days.
