SARGODHA: The Pakistan Institute of China Studies (PICS), University of Sargodha (UoS), on Tuesday a seminar titled “The New Story of ‘Made-in-China’ Products in Pakistan”, shedding light on the evolving perception and growing acceptance of Chinese products in the country.

The host Director of the Confucius Institute and Director of PICS, Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan talked about the historical distrust towards Chinese products, the transformative role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the emergence of Chinese brands as household names in Pakistan.

“Over the years, skepticism surrounding the quality of Chinese products has given way to increasing trust, fueled by strategic economic partnerships and technological advancement,” he said.

Prof. Dr. Awan said, “CPEC is not just about roads and railways; it is a gateway of opportunities for Pakistani youth in business, technology, and research. Students must equip themselves with skills to become active contributors in this new era of cooperation.”

He stated that the journey from doubt to trust in ‘Made-in-China’ products reflects how innovation, quality, and strategic partnerships can reshape global perceptions. “Our youth must lead this narrative with open minds and entrepreneurial spirit,” he said.

He also highlighted that how CPEC has played a pivotal role not only in infrastructure development but also in reshaping the image of Chinese enterprises, enabling Chinese brands to establish a strong footprint in Pakistani markets.

The seminar concluded with a dynamic question-and-answer session, reflecting active participation from students and faculty members keen to understand the changing dynamics of Sino-Pak trade and consumer culture.
