Pakistan Leaders Hail 75 Years of China’s Founding, Reaffirm Strong Bilateral Ties

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm felicitation to the people and leadership of China in honor of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

At the National Day reception── hosted by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad─ President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with China for shared prosperity and global peace. 

He emphasized the enduring “all-weather friendship” between the two nations, crediting generations of Pakistanis and Chinese for advancing their strategic partnership. 

Despite evolving global dynamics, President Zardari noted, the bond between Pakistan and China remains unshakable. He also expressed optimism for the continued development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), calling China a trusted partner.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his remarks, described the celebration as a significant event and reflected on his June visit to China, where he experienced a warm reception. He highlighted the deep and enduring friendship between the two countries, famously describing it as “higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the deepest ocean.”

Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude for China’s unwavering support during Pakistan’s economic challenges, specifically mentioning China’s assistance in meeting IMF requirements.

The Prime Minister also reiterated Pakistan’s full support for China's positions on issues like Hong Kong and Taiwan. He noted that the second phase of CPEC will further strengthen bilateral cooperation in fields such as agriculture, information technology, and mining. The prime minister concluded by expressing his anticipation of the upcoming visit by the Chinese premier.

The reception was also attended by Governor Sindh Kamran Tesori, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and many other officials.
