“LONGi Introducing Affordable Solar Panels for Rural Pakistan”

XI’AN, (CHINA): LONGi, a leading photovoltaic Chinese company, is set to introduce low-cost solar panels tailored to the needs of rural populations in Pakistan, where purchasing power is limited.
“The new panels, rated at 215 and 225 watts, will allow residents to power their homes with minimal investment”, said Eric, Senior Sales Manager for MEA & CA region at Global Sales and Marketing Center, during an exclusive interview with CPEC Today at the company’s headquarters in Xi’an.
“Local people can buy just one or two solar panels, which is enough to light their homes, charge their cellphones, or run fans.” Eric said.
The initiative aims to make solar energy accessible to rural households without the need for expensive in-grid, off-grid, or hybrid systems. By purchasing a panel, a short wire, converter device, and a rechargeable battery, consumers can operate 12-volt appliances during the day and store electricity for nighttime use.
He further said, “We have different products for different markets and regions. In rural areas, we are introducing our Horizon type 215-225 watts Horizon off-grid solar panels.”
“Smaller, Stronger Does it all,” is the slogan of the yet-to-be-launched Horizon Solar Panels that are specially designed for 12V applications. The dimensions of the panel are 1352/767/30mm.
This is first small-sized panel in Pakistan’s PV market which the buyers will get with five years’ warranty and is expected to produce between 1000 to 1300 Wh of daily usable energy in summer, as per the brochure of the panel.
LONGi is a leader in the photovoltaic market in Pakistan. “In 2023, LONGi captured more than 30% of the Pakistani photovoltaic market, and our target is to achieve a 40% share in 2024,” Eric said, adding that this goal is “quite achievable”.
Beyond its business activities, LONGi is also committed to social responsibility. For the past five to six years, the company has distributed food to the poor during Ramadan, a program that will continue in the future, according to Eric.
He said that LONGi has donated solar systems to special institutions for students with disabilities and “During the floods, the company donated 400 tons of food to the affected people”.
To introduce young people to solar energy and the equipment used, earlier this year, LONGi organized a special two-month training programme for students in Lahore and Mr. Eric says that this “more students will be trained under the same program”.
LONGi Solar, a global leader in solar technology, has significantly expanded its presence in Pakistan since entering the market in 2018.
During a briefing to a nine-member delegation of Pakistani media, Mr. Eric said that the company’s shipment of photovoltaic modules in Pakistan has “exceeded 6GW”, making it the top module brand in terms of market share.
To further its commitment to the Pakistani market, LONGi has established an office in Lahore. The office employs more than 20 local staff members across various roles, including sales, marketing, and technical positions. The company is dedicated not only to providing high-performance PV products but also to contributing to the development of local education, community, and environmental protection. LONGi’s initiatives in Pakistan are part of its broader commitment to corporate social responsibility.
