GWADAR: The Pak-China Friendship Hospital (PCFH), a state-of-the-art facility under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has inaugurated a new Department of Dermatology, marking another milestone in its commitment to providing world-class free healthcare to the people of Gwadar and the wider Makran Division.
Director General of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Saifullah Khetran, during his visit to PCFH on Wednesday, inaugurated the newly established Dermatology Department.
The Dermatology Department is particularly important in Gwadar and other coastal areas due to a range of environmental, occupational, and lifestyle factors that make skin-related conditions more common and complex in these regions. The area’s high humidity, intense sunlight, and salty air causing and aggravating a wide range of skin problems such as sunburn, heat rashes, fungal infections, and pigmentation disorders are more prevalent in coastal climates.
During the DG’s visit, he also reviewed various sections of the hospital, interacted with patients, and expressed satisfaction over the quality of healthcare being provided under the administration of Indus Hospital & Health Network.
Head of Campus, Dr. Affan Faiqzada briefed the DG on the hospital’s operations, treatment systems, and available medical facilities.
Saifullah Khetran termed the hospital a “blessing for the region,” where state-of-the-art medical treatment is offered completely free of charge.
He was informed that approximately 1,000 patients benefit from the hospital daily, receiving free medications, lab tests, surgeries, consultations, and other essential medical services. One of the hospital’s revolutionary developments is the introduction of CT Scan facilities in Gwadar for the first time through the Radiology Department, enhancing diagnostic capacity with advanced equipment. The hospital is also equipped with a modern laboratory performing all kinds of tests with the latest medical technology.
Currently, the hospital offers specialist care in gynecology, pediatrics, internal medicine, emergency medicine, radiology, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, dermatology, pathology, and more. All services, including diagnosis and medication, are provided free of cost to the public.
Saifullah Khetran was informed that the hospital was preparing to establish additional key departments, including gastroenterology, cardiology, and neurology. These expansions will significantly reduce the need for residents to travel to cities like Karachi or Turbat for treatment.
