ISLAMABAD: The National Logistic Corporation (NLC) has expanded its fleet with the addition of 500 state-of-the-art, high-powered trucks from China, a move aimed at enhancing regional connectivity under the International Road Transport (TIR) system.

The new vehicles, equipped with advanced technology and boasting 390 horsepower, are tailored for long-haul logistics and were brought into Pakistan via the Khunjerab Pass. According to NLC officials, transporting the trucks by road significantly reduced costs and delivery time compared to traditional sea routes. "This acquisition is a key step in strengthening regional connectivity under the TIR framework," the corporation stated.

NLC launched its first commercial operation under the TIR in 2021 and has since expanded its land transportation network to reach destinations in Central Asia, China, Russia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, with further plans to expand into Eastern Europe. The addition of these modern trucks will bolster NLC’s capabilities to handle the growing demand for cross-border transportation and trade in the region.

The trucks will be used to transport goods across various routes, supporting trade and economic growth. The recent expansion coincides with the National Highway Authority’s designation of the Karakoram Highway as an all-weather route, ensuring continuous access between Pakistan and China, a crucial element of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

With a focus on efficiency and long-term growth, the new fleet is expected to play a pivotal role in NLC’s strategy to enhance connectivity and boost regional trade.
