Turkish President Erdogan Arrives in Pakistan for Two-Day Official Visit

RAWALPINDI: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Pakistan early Thursday for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Erdogan at Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi. A ceremonial 21-gun salute marked his arrival, and Pakistan Air Force jets escorted his aircraft as it entered the country’s airspace.
Erdogan is accompanied by First Lady Emine Erdogan and a high-level delegation, including senior officials and corporate leaders. During the visit, he and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will co-chair the seventh session of the Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), the top decision-making body overseeing relations between the two nations.
The leaders are expected to sign several agreements and memorandums of understanding to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, defense, energy, agriculture, health, and technology.
Erdogan will also meet with President Zardari and address the Pakistan-Turkiye Business and Investment Forum alongside Prime Minister Sharif.
The HLSCC last convened in Islamabad in February 2020. Its framework fosters collaboration across key sectors, with a focus on expanding trade and deepening strategic ties.
