GWADAR: Thirty-four students from the University of Gwadar received scholarships under the Chinese Ambassador Special Scholarship Balochistan (CASSB) Phase II on Wednesday, part of China’s initiative to support education in Pakistan's underdeveloped regions.
The scholarships were presented at a ceremony organized by the university’s Financial Aid and Scholarship Office. In a parallel initiative, 55 female students were awarded full tuition scholarships from the Sahil Welfare Association in collaboration with the Pakistan Navy, covering four years of undergraduate studies.
These scholarships reflect our ongoing commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and reducing financial hurdles for students, said Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, who presided over the event. He thanked the Chinese Embassy and the Sahil Welfare Association for their contributions, emphasizing their role in expanding educational access in Gwadar and the wider Balochistan region.
Senior university officials, including Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Manzoor Ahmad and Controller of Examinations Professor Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Mehr, encouraged students to take full advantage of the support and focus on achieving academic excellence.
The CASSB scholarship program is part of China’s broader efforts to strengthen ties with Pakistan through education and development initiatives, with a particular focus on the country’s less-developed areas like Balochistan.
